The St Michael’s Fair was first mentioned in a Malatesta edict dating back to 1472, which means it is now more than 650 years old!

At the end of September, the beautiful town of Santarcangelo di Romagna hosts this famous and centuries-old fair, also known as the “bird fair”. The streets of the historic centre fill with stalls selling handicrafts, displays of plants and flowers, and stands dedicated to the local food products of Romagna.

The event also features performances of local folklore, art exhibitions and, in the town’s traditional inns, the ever-present food and wine specialities of Romagna.
