Riace Art Week
A village regenerating itself between community and creativity
A week of art and community all in the making. An 'mbiscatizzu' (mixture) purposeful and orderly in its disorder: an interweaving of ideas, people, colors, shapes, sounds, scents and, above all, stories.
In an increasingly fast-paced world that threatens to leave behind human beings, nature and relationships, art becomes a powerful practice of resistance, redemption and encounter.
The heart of the project: regeneration and engagement.
Art Week was born with a specific goal: to activate the urban and social regeneration of the town of Riace, redesigning its territories and restoring its social spaces to a new system of values.
How do we do this? Through a creative bridge that joins the energies of artists from outside - creatives, musicians, performers and artisans ready to bring fresh looks and lifeblood - to the souls of the local citizens and community, the real engine of Riace, custodians of memories and stories ready to intertwine with the future.
Together, residents and guests, they transform the streets of the village into large open-air canvases, social laboratories of exchange and pristine stages from which shared melodies and imaginaries resonate.
What to expect.
The event takes shape through traveling moments of sharing designed to bring people closer to culture:
- open workshops, to exchange experiences, knowledge and activate everyone's creativity
- shows and performances of visual and performance art, which uses the body and voice to struggle, tell and exist
- moments of sharing, of slow spaces and times to rediscover the beauty of being together, exploring oneself and others
Art is a tool in the service of allÉ™: it regenerates spaces and gazes, tells stories of life and struggles for life.
We look forward to seeing you in Riace to color the future of this hamlet together!
