The Hundred Lives of Dame Freya, Traveler and Writer.

Animated visit® in the Freya Stark room of the Museo Civico di Asolo with Alessandra Brocadello and Carlo Bertinelli.

The animated visit® recounts the essential moments in the life of Freya Stark, the great English traveler, writer, and photographer who lived in Italy for a long time, bringing out the existential value that travel had for her and her familiarity with the city of Asolo, which can rightfully claim the title of her "hospitable home."

Appearing during the visit in addition to Freya herself are landscape painter and photographer Herbert Young, who leaves her his villa in Asolo; Professor William Paton Ker, who encourages her to study Arabic; and Azis, a guide on her trip to Alamut, the fortress of the Old Man of the Mountain, whom she would nickname the Philosopher in the book "The Valleys of the Assassins."

The proposed itinerary in the room that the museum in Asolo dedicates to her is articulated with the circular writing desk, a representation of the world and at the same time a "still point" where Freya collected her memoirs and translated them into words; the trunk and suitcases that enclose the necessary elements for traveling and recount the journeys she made from 1927 onward to Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Turkey, and Afghanistan; and the three-door closet, which expresses the profound meanings of going, as an existential experience that is transformed and that transforms the traveler.
