An overall easy hike on wide, well-trodden trails to familiarize yourself with snowshoes or simply to spend a nice day in good company outdoors, on the snow with a nice convivial lunch. Artavaggio is a beautiful plateau in Valsassina accessible by cable car from Moggio, near Milan, and offers stunning views of the Resegone, the Alps chain and the mountains of the Triangolo Lariano.

Program:

• Meeting at 9:00 am at the Artavaggio cable car station in Moggio; possible meeting at 8:00 am at the Lecco Bione car park to share cars on request and based on availability.
• Ride the cable car to the Piani di Artavaggio; collect snowshoes if needed and coffee;
• Day on the snow to familiarize yourself with snowshoes;
• Lunch in a mountain hut and return in the early afternoon (around 4:00 pm).

Extra costs to be paid on site:

• 14.5 euros per person for the round trip cable car
• 8 euros for snowshoe and pole rental if needed: request snowshoes at the time of registration if necessary
• À la carte self-service lunch at the mountain hut

The route is 5 km long, with an elevation gain of 250 m and a moderate to gentle slope. The hike is suitable for adults and teenagers in good physical condition and fitness, accustomed to mountain hiking, considering the elevation gain and length of the route. The hike is not suitable for people with heart, respiratory, postural, muscle problems, significant overweight, or those who have recently undergone surgery or are under significant medication. Conditions that must be communicated to the guide in advance to assess feasibility. Accident insurance is not included in the fee.
