Wonders I’ve suggested
Barni Palace
The beautiful, recently restored 17th-century palace can be visited and also hosts art exhibitions. There is a noble soul in its high frescoed ceilings, wide staircases and airy inner courtyards.
Orsomarso, a treasure in the Pollino National Park
The village climbs the green mountains of the Calabrian Apennines in an up-and-down wonderland. Historically a land of saints and battles, today it is above all a place where hospitality is at home!
The Castle of Fiumefreddo
Photographers, there is bread for your teeth here: the empty arches wide open to the sea and sky, war wounds of this old castle, become the ideal frames for creative and exciting shots!
Shrine of Our Lady of Arms
It rises from the rock and from its 1,000-meter height towers over the Sibari plain. The name has nothing belligerent about it for real: "arms" is an adaptation of the Greek word meaning "caves."
The Norman Swabian Castle of Morano
A castle that has seen it all, but still stands proudly overlooking the upper Coscile River valley in the Pollino National Park. It protects a spectacular village rich in history.
Florense Abbey of San Giovanni in Fiore
It dates back to 1230 and is among the most impressive religious buildings in Calabria. Particular is the choice of bare stone in the interior as well, faithful to the monastic values of sobriety and modesty of the Florentines.
Lake Cecita
The largest reservoir in Calabria is an example of perfect harmony between nature and human intervention. Bathing is prohibited, but walks and picnics are welcome!
Giants of Sila Nature Reserve
In Sila National Park there is a centuries-old forest inhabited by respectable trees. Sometimes you need to feel small before the majestic beauty of nature...
Lake Ariamancina
Surrounded by lush forests and high-altitude pastures, this man-made lake is an ideal destination for a fabulous hike in Sila National Park.
The ancient Abbey of St. Benedict in Polirone
Founded in 1007 by Mantuan nobleman Teoaldo di Canossa, it underwent quite a few changes over the centuries. The area consists of several buildings and is one of the largest monastic complexes in Italy.
Olbe Lakes
Two beautiful bodies of water surrounded by pastures and rock ridges, 2156 meters above sea level. A view that rewards the effort of the climb!
Gradisca Castle
Massive and silent, built by the Austrians between 1546 and 1565, it underwent many transformations over time. For a century, until 1915, it was also a penal institution.
