After the hearty Easter lunch, the idea was immediately to go out for a bit of a workout. So it was necessary to look for a place not far from the city, but out of the hustle and bustle of the streets of Trent. Lo and behold, after only a half-hour drive, we arrived at the alpine lake of Cei, nestled in a basin populated by ancient beech trees and overlooked by the Stivo-Cornetto-Bondone mountain range.
Why it is special
Entering the walk along the shores of the two small lakes, Cei and Lagabis, one is totally immersed in unspoiled nature and one's gaze goes to get lost among the reeds and water lilies of the biotope. Then, turning around, you realize that you are at the foot of a mountain that projects its image onto the body of water, rippled by the constant flurry of unique species of local fauna, ready to draw your attention.

The Cei Lake Visitor Center opens during the summer months of July and August. The many activities-proposed by the Trento Museum of Science (Muse) and the Rovereto Civic Museum Foundation, in collaboration with numerous local territorial entities-are free admission for all users. They range from simple nature walks to astronomical observations with a telescope offered by the Muse. In short, fun and curiosity guaranteed for the whole family!
A bit of history
The area, known for its pristine natural essence, was declared a Biotope by the Autonomous Province of Trento in 1992 and is now a Site of Community Importance and Provincial Nature Reserve. Since 2014, it has also been fully included in the Network of Reserves of the Bondone Group, the mountain massif that towers over it in all its grandeur and magnificence.
Curiosities
The Arcobaleno Outdoor association offers Nordic Walking walks, lasting about an hour and a half, every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August at 7 pm. In addition to the promotion of a simple, everyday action, such as walking can be, the rediscovery of natural-bottomed trails in this lovely alpine valley is offered at a symbolic price (€ 5.00).
