How to get to Scylla

  • By plane. The nearest airport is Reggio Calabria, and from there reach Scylla by train, rental car or bus-it is about 30 km away.
  • By train. The railway line is the one that connects Reggio Calabria to Naples. The station is close to the town, and from there you can move on foot.
  • By car. Take the Salerno-Reggio Calabria (A2) highway to Scilla. Warning: you cannot drive into Chianalea! Fine assured!
  • By sea. During the summer season there are ferries and boats that connect Scylla to nearby seaside villages.

What kind of traveler are you?

Choose the "profile" that suits you and find out what Scylla has to offer. Our advice: come in the spring, between March and June, to enjoy the spectacle of nature awakening; from May for the swordfish; or in the fall, between September and October, when the colors of the trees warm the heart.

Profile 1: Lazy Explorer

You are the type who likes to savor things, at a slow pace. So devote the first day to discovering Scylla with a local guide, strolling between Chianalea, Marina Grande and San Giorgio, and then enjoy a well-deserved relaxation by the sea with an aperitif at sunset. Devote the second day to wild Aspromonte, with a hike to the Tremusa caves, a true wonder. It's less than 5 km, you can do it! What about the third day? Spend it by boat to enjoy the beauty of the Costa Viola from the sea: a seafood lunch, a swim in crystal clear waters, and maybe some snorkeling.

Profile 2: Explorer Walker

You're the type who is based in Scylla, because you can appreciate the pleasures of the sea anyway. But you're quivering to discover the wild Aspromonte: you want to taste the sea even from above, you want to hike the brigands' trails, you want to get to where they ski while looking at the sea in winter. Walk the "Paths of Myth" with the AIGAE guides of Magna Graecia Outdoor: thanks to them you will understand so many things about this extraordinary land!

Profile 3: Sailor Explorer

If water is your element, here's an all-blue weekend just for you. A day at sea with the fishermen, hunting for swordfish-a ritual lost in the mists of time. A day along the coast, exploring from the sea the sea caves and the Costa Viola: a spectacle! And finally a day of relaxation, between Chianalea, San Giorgio and Marina Grande, enjoying the blue sea from the mainland.
