Where

Who is Tonino Guerra: poet, artist, screenwriter
Tonino Guerra is the Romagna poet of beauty and simplicity, spokesman for great feelings and unforgettable stories. With his delicate pen, he also tiptoes into great auteur cinema, winning awards and recognition as much for books and poems as for film scripts. Rome and Russia are the homes of his adult life, but the hills of Romagna, lulled by the sound of the Marecchia River, are the cradle of his art. Born in Santarcangelo di Romagna to a family of farmers, he learned to look for the most intense beauty in the small things that seem everyday normalcy only in appearance.
It is this ability to see the sensational even in the everyday that makes his works so surprising, and not limited to writing: if with words he shaped the idea of reality, through design and art he shaped matter. Some of the projects he dedicated himself to are rooted right here in the Marecchia Valley, where he was born and where he chose to spend the last stage of his life, in Pennabilli.
Tonino Guerra's fountains: art and life in the villages of the Valmarecchia.
One of his projects is a gift to the villages and towns of Romagna, a series of fountains where mosaic, wrought iron, glass and ceramics combine the simplicity of elements such as a leaf, a snail, a pine cone, with thecheerful and creative energy of water. These are the fountains of Tonino Guerra, scattered along the Marecchia Valley to draw a path through the poet's beauty and soul. Seeing them all is a very interesting and very beautiful experience along one of Emilia Romagna's itineraries that, from village to village, delves into the Valmarecchia following Tonino Guerra's legacy.
