Since 1982, the second weekend of August in Paluzza has seen the "Palio Das Cjarogiules." For two days the village re-enacts this long tradition with period costumes and tasty traditional Carnic dishes, sold at stands in the village streets.
The most eagerly awaited moment of the festival is the start of the five competitions held on Sunday in which representatives of the twelve contrade compete. The first challenge is aimed at children to be followed by the "Palio dal Fen" aimed at women, who must run along a track, dragging a "cjarogiule" filled with about 15kg of hay.
This is followed by the other four challenges aimed at men: the "Palio dal Seon" in which the athletes have to cut in the shortest time possible (using a 120-180 cm saw called a "seon") a fir log; the "Palio da Cjame" in which the athletes prepare a load of wood of about a quintal and then tie and secure it to a "cjarogiule."
At this point the last challenge begins - "Palio das Cjarogiules" - in which the "cjarogiule" is pulled by the athletes.
