Assisi's Calendimaggio

This event has pagan origins, from the times when with different rites they celebrated the return of spring and thus the renewal of the cycle of life! During the four-day festival, the two Parties into which the city is divided, the Nobilissima Parte de Sopra and the Magnifica Parte de Sotto, compete for the palio through the performance of processions in medieval costumes.
