Festival of the Middle Ages in the village of Villincino

To commemorate the battle of Tassera against Barbarossa and the granting of privileges given to the Castellanze of Erba and Orsenigo. A day dedicated to the Middle Ages full of events for the whole family with activities and re-enactments that will take visitors to discover the history of the past and how people lived in the Middle Ages within the walls of an ancient village. Figurants from the La Duecentesca Association of Milan will accompany visitors to discover ancient crafts including the armorer, the cerusico, the apothecary, the battimoneta and many and many others including jesters, ladies and knights. In the afternoon the historical procession will take place along the streets of the city with the participation of various groups including the group of the Court of the Dragon with the Templars, the group of Cantù "I Canturium" with its noble figures and also some characters representing the Palio del Baradello where the figure of Barbarossa will not be missing. The central theme of the event will be the festivities in honor of the Castellanze of Erba and Orsenigo to commemorate the benefits granted by Milan to the municipalities that went to their aid in the clash against the emperor. Several festive performances will take place both in the small square in front of the Villincino Tower as well as in the large market square of Erba in the shadow of the Santa Eufemia tower. Throughout the day, not only the noble women of the Ancient Dances Group will perform, but also the jester Pier Paolo Pederzini "Il RimAttore" who will surprise and entertain the audience with his improvised rhymes. Instead of the classic flag-wavers, this year there will be an extraordinary show of musicians, jesters and acrobats "I Folet d'la Marga" in the square, who have arrived especially from the lands of Canavese for the occasion. The day's program then includes the opening of the medieval market in Villincino with the display of Martesana works at 9:30 a.m. where an initial show in the square with the RimAttore and the Folet will follow at 11 a.m. In the afternoon there will be the Historical Procession at 2:30 p.m. that will start from the Town Hall Square and continue on C.so 25 Aprile, Via Volta, to arrive in the Market Square where upon arrival the Folet d'la Marga will perform their show. The event in the square will conclude with the classic auspicious flight of the Travelling Pigeons. Then the procession will resume its route to Villincino where more performances can be seen from 4:30 p.m. All performances will be free, while for the Medieval Market in Villincino admission will be free.
